Post 1 - New Year’s Resolution

I have never been much of a New Year’s resolution kind of guy, which doesn’t mean I don’t find goal setting a valuable way to organize and effectively measure accomplishments. I’ve just never gotten into the routine of formally spelling out the annual goal setting routine in the form of New Year’s resolutions. I also don’t relegate goal setting to a one time, annual event. I understand the rolling over of the calendar is both meaningful and convenient but I also believe the process shouldn’t be the only point of reflection throughout the year.

I think we can all agree that 2020 was different and a year none of us will forget. Everyone in the world has been experiencing a form of uncertainty, fear, disruption, angst, humility and the list goes on. It has tested our patience and demonstrated our resilience. As we head into 2021, it has helped set our resolve and determination to come out the other side of this very long tunnel.

As I reflected over the holiday break I thought about my family, my friends and my team and the ways I can be supportive and help make these trying times a little bit easier. In many ways, this process is iterative, you are never done which makes it hard to set specific goals. It is worth the effort, but that’s not what this post is about. I decided this year I would make a more clear and transparent resolution on a personal level.

I resolve to write, or should I say create, more frequently resulting in a post every week for 2021. I expect most of the resulting content to be in the form of blog posts, however I reserve the right to intersperse video and perhaps the occasional repost with commentary. Other than getting into a cadence of creativity I don’t have any other specific outcomes defined. I’ll write about a variety of topics from professional to personal...but probably not political, there’s already more than enough political punditry in our world.

I’m calling the effort Fifty Two Posts (see the creative juices are already flowing) and will be using the linked site to track my progress. Additionally, I’ll share content where appropriate. For business related posts you can find them in LinkedInd for personal content I may share them on Twitter or simply let the website be the source.

My goal is not to drive discussions, or traffic for that matter, however I’m more than happy to engage with anyone who has an interest in the topics of the posted content. The rules are relatively straight forward. Please be respectful. I’ve had some of the greatest debates with people where we are fundamentally on different sides of an issue and can take a position while respecting another's right to their opinion...again with respect at its core.

Wishing you the best in 2021!
